Tallen gives N250, 000 cash prize to best UniJos graduating female students

The Minister of Women Affairs, Mrs Pauline Tallen, has given N250, 000 cash prize each to two best graduating female students of University of Jos and promised to support 200 indigent ones.

Tallen’s gesture was conveyed by the Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Sabastian Maimako, at the 31st and 32nd combined convocation of the university on Saturday in Jos.

Maimako said Tallen’s gesture was to encourage the female students to put in their best.

The minister also announced that she would support 200 poor female students with N20,000 each, totaling N4 million.

“She told me to announce that 200 indigent female students would be supported by her with the sum N20,000 each.

“She directed the university to furnish her with the list of the deserving students.

“However, it is not for every female student, it is for those that have superior academic standing,” he said.

According to Maimako, Tallen emphasised that she was committed to improving the lots of the girl child and women in Nigeria.

Tallen and her Special Duties counterpart, Sen. George Akume, attended the convocation ceremony.
