Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State has reinstated and promoted a permanent secretary, Alhaji Suleiman Sarkin Fulani, who was removed by the former administration of Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, to Head of Service.
Mr Fulani, at his swearing-in held at the council chamber, Government House, thanked Governor Ahmed Aliyu for giving him the opportunity to contribute to the development of the state.
He assured that he would justify the confidence reposed in him by adding value to the civil service.
Fulani, following his compulsory retirement by the Tambuwal administration, approached the National Industrial Court, Sokoto where he got judgement to be reinstated but it was not implemented by the previous administration.
The court in its ruling nullified Sarkin Fulani’s compulsory retirement from the state civil service and subsequently directed that he should be re-instated.
The court also directed payment of his full entitlements, along with N100,000 as compensation.
Justice Kiyashot Demlak in his ruling had said the claimant had successfully proven his case of wrongful retirement based on legal arguments and presentation of required documents.
Justice Demlak said the defendant, Sokoto State government, through its counsel, Suleiman Usman (SAN), failed to prove the legality of its actions, bordering on the claimant’s alleged misconduct.
