The Police Command in Benue said it had deployed adequate personnel to all flash points across the state to prevent breakdown of law and order during this year’s Sallah festivities.
News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Federal Government has declared July 20, and July 21, public holidays for the festivities.
The deployment of personnel for sallah duty is contained in a statement signed by the command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Catherine Anene, on Monday in Makurdi.
According to the statement, Police officers have been deployed to entry and exit routes in the state.
“A special deployment of officers is made to notable flashpoints and vulnerable areas as well as Mosques and other worship centres.
“The good people of Benue are advised to cooperate with police officers covering their neighbourhood and provide credible and timely information about suspicious movement of criminals and their activities,” the statement said.

It also advised Muslims to remain orderly and avoid processions during the festivities to prevent miscreants from infiltrating their gathering.
