Rector Tasks Police On Improvement Of Security In Ekiti

The Rector, Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti, Dr  Dayo Aladebeye, has called on the Nigeria Police Force, Ekiti Command,  to ensure adequate security of lives and property in the state.

Aladebeye gave the advice on Thursday in Ado-Ekiti while playing host to the newly posted Divisional Officer (DPO) for Odo-Ado Divisional Headquarters, Mr Victor Akinsanya.

The rector, while emphasising the need to curb the prevalence of kidnappings in the state, said the menace and other related crimes had become a source of concern to the institution.

Aladebeye expressed the management’s appreciation to the new DPO and his team for having the interest of the institution at heart as demonstrated through the visit.

He also thanked Akinsanya for deeming it fit to come and discuss the security development of the institution under the jurisdiction of Odo- Ado Police Division.

Oladebeye, who felt elated to know that the new DPO is an alumnus of the institution, pledged the support of the school in whatever capacity it was called upon to assist.

Earlier, Mr Akinsanya noted that the courtesy visit was to seek the cooperation of the polytechnic in maintaining peace and order within the institution and its environs.

He assured the school of the unwavering support of the police authorities should there be any security challenges bedevilling it.

Akinsanya thanked the institution`s management for its support to the police formation in recent years and clamoured for more as such would always be welcomed.

Contributing, Mrs Kehinde Ekanem, the institution ‘s Registrar, commended the DPO and his team for their cooperation in ensuing the peaceful atmosphere the polytechnic has enjoyed so far.

She assured the team that the management would continue to do everything within its power to ensure that the institution remained violence-free. (NAN)
