The Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV) says it has concluded modalities to commence its “Passion Talk” in universities, colleges of education and polytechnics nationwide.

The National Coordinator of POCACOV, CSP Ebere Amaraizu, disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Enugu on Monday.

Amaraizu said that the POCACOV Passion Talk is meant to make young minds remain focused, purposeful and law abiding in order to have a brighter future as champions.

According to him, Passion Talk is aimed at deepening ongoing Nigeria Police effort through its POCACOV initiatives towards sensitising relevant stakeholders  on the dangers of cultism, drug abuse, violent behaviours and others.

“POCACOV is working with relevant stakeholders to achieve this onerous task of giving our young minds and future champions this platform of strategic leadership direction and self discovery.

“This is a conscious effort by the Nigeria Police through forum and activity-based approaches in line with its crime prevention, safety and security framework/measures to stabilise internal security.

“POCACOV shall be conducting its Passion Talk campaign against cultism and other vices on July 28 at the Imo State University for the newly-admitted students and others.

“POCACOV Passion Talk campaign will also cut across some universities, polytechnics, colleges of education that have indicated their interest on the campaign against cultism and other vices.”

NAN recalls that POCACOV is a community-driven and public relations tool of the Nigeria Police, designed to work with different stakeholders to sensitise the young ones on the dangers of cultism and other vices.

POCACOV was nationally flagged off on Aug. 24, 2019, and nationally launched in Abuja on March 12, 2020; since then it had spread rapidly to schools and communities.

The police advocacy campaign – POCACOV– uses stakeholders and communities engagement activities focusing on advocacy, awareness creation/sensitization, mentoring and reorientation. (NAN) (www.nannews.ng)
