Panel Beater, Plumber Jailed 12 Months Each For Trespassing Into Wildlife Park

A Chief Magistrates’ Court in Jos on Friday sentenced a 32- year-old panel beater, Sunday Fabian and a 42-year old plumber, Jeremiah Joseph to 12 months imprisonment each for trespassing into the wildlife park and cutting down trees.

The judge, Simi Drenkat, sentenced Joseph and Fabian after they pleaded guilty to the offence.

Drenkat, however, gave them an option to pay a fine of N40,000 each or serve 12 months in prison.

Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel Insp Yange Terzugwe, told the court that the case was reported on Jan.18, at the Rantya Police station by members of staff of Plateau Tourism Cooperation .

The prosecutor said that the convicts trespassed into the park and cut down trees.

The offence, he said, is punishable under the provisions of sections 59,313, 333 and 57 of the Plateau Penal Code law.
