Omani Minister for Foreign Affairs, Yusuf bin-Abdullah, on Tuesday arrived Iran’s capital, Tehran, for talks with his Iranian counterpart, Mohammad Javad–Zarif, over a number of issues, Khabar Fouri news website reported.
According to Khabar Fouri, the Omani minister will discuss regional, international and bilateral ties with Zarif.
Bin-Abdullah’s unannounced visit comes amid escalating tensions between the U.S. and Iran.
Over the past years, Oman has played a crucial role in soothing tensions between Tehran and Washington, as it is widely believed that Oman’s mediation was behind 2015 Iranian nuclear deal between Iran and the world powers.
