The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brig – Gen. Shuaibu Ibrahim, has urged corps members to steer clear of cybercrimes and instead leverage the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme to live meaningful lives.

“Like I said during your swearing-in ceremony, the NYSC Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme is aimed at equipping you for self-employment and wealth

“I will implore you to shun drug abuse, cybercrimes, advance-fee-fraud”, he said.

He stated this on Tuesday at the closing ceremony of the 2021, Batch “B”, Stream II, deployed to the state at the Orientation Camp, Ikot Itie Udung in Nsit Atai Local Government Area.

Ibrahim, also admonished the corps members to make themselves employers of labour, as well as be good ambassadors of the scheme, during and after the service year.

The director general, who was represented by the State NYSC Coordinator, Mrs Chinyere Ikwe, advised the corps members posted to their places of primary assignments to desist from engaging in the local politics of the host communities.

“Remember that engagement in the local politics of your host communities is a no-go-area for you.

“In all circumstances, always be conscious of your actions and inaction for the images of your families, the NYSC and the institutions of graduation.

“I would like to reiterate our warning against unauthorized journeys and night trips.

“Statistics by relevant agencies have shown that night trips is a causative factor for road traffic accidents, while its timing may also render rescue efforts fruitless,” he said. (NAN)(www.nannews ng)
