Northern Alternative Forum Hails South West Governors On Peaceful Co-existence With Herders

The pan-northern socio-political organization, Northern Alternative Forum (NAF) hailed the effort of South West Governors on peaceful co-existence with herders in the region.

The Forum in a press statement issued by its National Chairman, Mallam Gidado Ibrahim has expressed gratitude to the Governors for a remarkable dialogue that would give a chance for peace to prevail in the South West.

Governors of  Ondo, Osun, Ekiti, Oyo, and Jigawa, and Kebbi states converged today for a meeting with the Leadership of Fulani herders for lasting peace.

In his welcome remarks, the chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum and Governor of Ekiti State, Dr Kayode Fayemi, said the meeting was called to resolve the issue of insecurity in the South-West

Ibrahim further stressed that it is worthy of appreciation the exemplary step taken by these Governors over their commitment to national integration and peaceful co-existence of all Nigerians in the region, irrespective of tribe and religion is “well acknowledged”, adding that “we will not forget that; we will be grateful to you forever”.

He also appreciated the traditional rulers in South West, stressing that based on “your relationship with the Fulani in your own local communities, your fatherly roles have been positive; so we are very grateful”.

“Nigeria as a whole is in a dire need of peace, unity and dialogue not the other way round of resorting to violence as a solution to every problem.

“We must all unite as one, give maximum support to President Muhammad Buhari’s pro-masses agenda for a better Nigeria. This is a clarion call to all peace loving Nigerians, we must detest from joining hands with the enemies of the land.” Ibrahim said.
