The pan-northern socio-political organization, Northern Alternative Forum (NAF) has commended The Department of State Services (DSS) for exposing plots to incite religious violence in selected States in Nigeria.
This was contained in a statement personally signed by the Forum’s National Chairman, Mallam Gidado Ibrahim, and made available to newsmen yesterday in Abuja. Ibrahim noted that the swift response by DSS to uncover such a nasty plot is worth commendation.
Recall that The Department of State Services (DSS) alerts the public about plans by some elements working with external forces to incite religious violence across the country.
Targeted States include Sokoto, Kano, Kaduna, Plateau, Rivers, Oyo, Lagos and those in the South East. Part of the plans is to cause inter-religious conflicts as well as use their foot soldiers to attack some worship centres, religious leaders, personalities, key and vulnerable points.
Ibrahim stated that: “The Department of State Service as an eagle watch for the country and we will never allow the politicization of the Service by Ethnic or Political cabals that earns their living through crises.
“Any attempt to cause havoc by the political hawkers, ethnic groups aim at discrediting the great assignment of the State Security Service shall be legally confronted.
“We at the Northern Alternative Forum appreciate the kind support provided to security agencies by the peace loving Nigerians. The Leadership of the State Security Service under Yusuf Magaji Bichi deserve a national honor for its untiring effort towards maintaining order.” he said.
