A non-governmental organisation (NGO), Fortune Health Plus Initiative (FHePIn), on Tuesday donated food items, among others, to some orphanages in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Its Chief Operating Trustee (COT), Dr Olusoji Ijidale, while distributing the items to the orphanage homes, said that they would cushioning the effect of economic challenges in Nigeria.

Ijidale said that the donation was meant to cater for the less privileged in the society, especially during the festive period.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the FHePIn Team led by Ijidale had visited Little Saint Orphanage at Apata area of Ibadan.

It also visited the Ibadan Home for Motherless Babies located at the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan.

Among the items donated were rice, beans, yam tubers, vegetable oil, palm oil, pastas, provisions and toiletries.

Ijidale said: “Like we believe in our organisation, there is nothing too small to give, and there is no one that is too poor to give something.

“So, coming here to assist these little children is our own way of making Christmas great for them.

“We know that the year has been most challenging, especially in the area of feeding.

“The economy was seriously balkanised by the COVID-19 pandemic, and all the other social problems we have in the country.

“My advice to others is that they should join this kind of thing.”

He recounted the efforts of the organisation in reaching out to the vulnerable across Ibadan over the years, saying that the organisation would not relent on the effort.

Also, Dr James Adeyinka, FHePIn Head of Projects Health and Chairman of the subcommittee constituted to visit orphanages in Ibadan, thanked God for the lives of those caring for the less privileged.

“We want to thank God for the lives of those of you taking care of these children. Life is from God and everyone has an expected destiny.

“We want to stand in, as helpers of destiny and that is why we have chosen your home as one of the homes we are going to visit before this year runs out,” Adeyinka said.

In her remarks, Mrs Yetunde Oluojo, the Head, FHePIn Grants Unit and member of the committee, urged workers of the orphanage homes to see the little children as theirs.

Oluojo urged them to always give children in the orphanage homes whatever that was due to them.

“I know you are taking good care of them and I appreciate. Please, note that you are serving God. As you are serving God, you are serving humanity.

“Have it at the back of your mind that these children are yours. Whatever is due to them, more and more, please give it to them,” she pleaded.

In her remarks, Mrs Esther Nmandi, the Administrator, Little Saint Orphanage, appreciated the team for the donation.

Nmandi promised that the donated items would be used to cater for the children.
