Nasarawa Lawmaker Tasks Herdsmen, Farmers On Peaceful Coexistence

Mr Danladi Jatau, the Minority Leader of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, on Thursday stressed the need for peaceful coexistence between farmers and herdsmen.
Jatau (PDP-Kokona West), who is the Chairman, House Committee on  Petitions and Public Complaints made the call in Lafia at a one-day peace meeting he organised in his constituency.
“I call  for peace and for development to thrive in this constituency,” he said.
He said that, no meaningful development can be achieved in an atmosphere of rancour, hence the need for the people of his constituency to embrace peace.
” Please I beg on all of us including farmers and herdsmen in my constituency to live in peace and tolerate one another for development to thrive.
” As no society will achieve meaningful development without peace. Peace is priceless and nonnegotiable.
 “God did not made a mistake of creating people of different backgrounds, hence the need for them to live together irrespective of their affiliations.
He solicited for his people’s support to enable him succeed in the task ahead of him.
Also speaking during the meeting, the Nasarawa State Commissioner of Police,  Bola Longe, who was represented by DCP Shehu Nadada, called for mutual understanding among the people for peace to reign in the constituency.
Also speaking, the District Head of Bassa,  Aguma Baleifi thanked the lawmaker for holding the meeting.
He promised to ensure that all agreements reached at the meeting is implemented.
