Man In Court Over Alleged Possession Of Explosives

A 35-year-old man, Babatunde Ogunjimi, on Wednesday appeared in an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court over alleged illegal possession of explosives.
The prosecutor, Inps. Caleb Leramo, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on June 30 along Ikere-Ado road in Ado-Ekiti.
He alleged that the defendant did have in his possession large pieces of “super 90 explosives” without permit.
Leramo said the offence is punishable under Regulation 34 of the Mineral and Mining(Explosives) Regulation, 2012.
The defendant pleaded not guilty.
Defence counsel, Mr Busuyi Ayorinde, prayed the court to grant his client bail in liberal terms.
Chief Magistrate Abdulhamid Lawal admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N20,000 with one surety in like sum.
He adjourned the case until Aug.17 for hearing.
