Lawmakers Seeks Better Welfare For Military Personnel

The Deputy Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Army, Hon. Tajudeen Adefisoye, has called for improved welfare packages for men and officers of the Nigerian armed forces.

The lawmaker, Adefisoye made the call in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr Oluyemi Fasipe, on Wednesday in Akure. Adefisoye represents Idanre/Ifedore federal constituency, Ondo State in the lower legislative chamber.

He said that the supreme price paid by the nation’s fallen heroes should not be allowed to be in vain by those in position of authority.

Adefisoye said that they must always be appreciated for daring to put their lives on the line to ensure peace and the protection of the country’s territorial integrity.

He added that better welfare packages should be given to those still at the battle fronts, adding that an improved insurance policies should also be put in place for those who had paid the supreme price for the country.

The lawmaker said that his colleagues in the House of Representatives had resolved to deploy legislative instruments to push for improved funding of the country’s armed forces.

Adefisoye assured that memories of the fallen heroes would be well-preserved, while the welfare of those who were still at the battle front would be given priority.

He commended the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Burutai for his leadership styles which, he said, had boosted the morale of the men and officers of Nigerian Army.

Zulum said that people should not take advantage of his stand against extortion at security checkpoints to cause chaos in the state.

He added that: “There was an attack in Gajiram, the military successfully repelled the attack.

“What happened in the past few days is very important, we must commend the efforts of the military, police and security agencies for a job well done.
