Argungu, Kebbi State – The High Court of Argungu has sentenced 25-year-old Badamasi Abdullahi to life imprisonment for raping a 16-year-old girl from Damana village, Argungu Local Government Area.
Badamasi Abdullahi was found guilty under Section 259(1) of the Kebbi State Penal Code Law, 2021. The prosecution presented five witnesses and tendered seven exhibits to prove their case. According to court records, Badamasi Abdullahi, a close friend of the victim’s brother, committed the crime after returning from buying cigarettes. Despite the victim’s plea and revelation that she was menstruating, Badamasi assaulted and raped her.
Hon. Justice Shamsudeen Jafar delivered the verdict, stating that the prosecution’s evidence was credible and uncontested by the defense. “Pursuant to Section 259(1) of the Kebbi State Penal Code Law, 2021, Badamasi Abdullahi, male, of the above address, is hereby convicted as charged and sentenced to imprisonment for life.”
In his defense, Badamasi Abdullahi called one witness and testified himself. However, the prosecution proved all the ingredients of the offence of rape, leading to the life imprisonment sentence.
