A Karmo Grade I Area Court in Abuja on Tuesday sentenced a 30-year-old housewife, Mary Azubuike to three months imprisonment for beating up her neighbour.
The police charged Azubuike, who resides in Idu Gbagyi Karmo village, with assault.
The Area Court Judge, Inuwa Maiwada, however, gave the convict an option to pay a fine of N5, 000 and warned her to desist from committing crimes.
Maiwada, ordered the convict to write an undertaking to live in peace with her neighbours.
Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Ijeoma Ukagha told the court that the defendant’s neighbour, Anna Och, reported the matter at the Karmo Police Station on Dec. 19, 2019
Ukagha said at about 8 p.m. at Idu, the convict and the complainant had an altercation and she beat her up.
She said that the convict tore the complainant’s clothes.
Ukagah said that the offence contravened the provisions of Section 262 of the Penal Code.
