The Nigeria Police Force has vowed to use all possible means to track down the killers of security operatives in Delta State.
The Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, stated this during an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today.
He stated that a meeting was going on with senior officers and the National Security Adviser (NSA) to address these issues not only in the Niger Delta.
Adejobi said none of the killers of the security operatives in Delta State would go unpunished, saying the force was receiving vital information on tte suspects at large.
He said, “Apart from the fact that it (killing) is a sin and inhuman and it is prohibited by all the religions, it is a disservice to our nation to kill our security operatives carrying out our official mission. They recorded videos of their actions and circulated them.
“They were murdered and the corpses were mutilated. We have started picking the killers of our officers. Those in the cell are helping us. We are still working.
“You know we don’t torture any more. That era has gone. We only do what is called interrogation. It may take us time to get information from them. We will get as many as possible of those at large. Whatever it is we will get them.
“The issue in the Niger Delta is multidimensional. This includes the population, economy of that place, oil business and many others.
“Meeting is going on with senior officers and the NSA to address these issues not only in the Niger Delta. We have pockets of incidences in all the geopolitical zones and it’s our responsibility to tackle these challenges for us to have a peaceful society in Nigeria.
“It is not only in the southern part of the country; but in this particular Delta we have recorded almost two, three or four incidents.
“Everybody is worried; I think even the governor, traditional rulers and the citizens are worried, too.”
