The Edo Government said it had concluded plans to distribute seeds, fertilisers and other farm inputs to farmers across the 18 local government areas of the state.

Gov. Godwin Obaseki told newsmen on Saturday in Benin that the effort was to boost production and guarantee food security after the COVID-19 pandemic in the state.

Obaseki said: ”we have created an independent farming initiative for farmers across the state.

“Under the initiative, we will be supporting small scale farmers with seeds, fertilisers, chemicals and other inputs this season to produce food which we will purchase from them.”

On rape issues, the governor promised to ensure that all reported cases would be thoroughly investigated and perpetrators of the heinous crimes prosecuted.

He commend the efforts of the various security agencies at ensuring that the state was relatively safe.
