Mr Ferguson Onwo, (Isoko South II Constituency), Delta House of Assembly, has urged his constituents to obey the state government’s directives on prevention of the coronavirus pandemic.
He urged his constituents to avoid crowded places, maintain social distancing with one another, improve on personal hygiene and adopt frequent use of hand sanitisers and wearing of nose masks and hand gloves.
He noted that government at various levels had issued directives on COVID- 19, aimed at checking the spread of the virus and acknowledged the concerted efforts of Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa at ensuring that the virus did not spread to Delta.
Onwo, who is the Chairman, House Committee on Housing and Women Affairs, also advised against unnecessary travels, particularly inter-state journeys, saying that the only way to stay safe from the disease was to remain indoors.
He said the COVID-19 pandemic was a plague currently ravaging the world, noting that though there was no reported case of the virus in the state, its presence in Nigeria was a great cause for worry.
He also appealed to the people of Isoko South II Constituency to abide by the international minimum standard of checking the spread of the virus.
The lawmaker said: ”The shutdown and setting up of isolation centres are all measures geared toward addressing the spread of the virus. I commend efforts made so far in that regard by the state government.”
