The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Niger State Command, has deployed no less than 1,200 personnel to provide the required security before, during, and after the Christmas festivities.

Mr Haruna Zurmi, the state commandant, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Minna on Tuesday.

He explained that the deployed personnel consisted of covert and overt in nature, and would cover all the 25 local council areas before, during, and after the festivities.

The commandant said that an effective operational order had already been issued to area commanders and divisional officers across all the councils on how to provide adequate security in the state.

According to him, all heads of departments and units at the headquarters have been mobilised under the operations department, briefed and posted accordingly.

“In the period under consideration, maximum surveillance, foot and vehicular patrols are to be strictly maintained with a view to protecting critical national assets and infrastructure from antics of vandals.

“Operatives attached to the anti-vandal units, the counter-terrorism units, and the intelligence department, are adequately mobilised and briefed on how to perform intra-duties, and to work in synergy with other agencies.

“We appeal to residents to report suspicious persons, which are security threats, to the corps or other security agencies,” he said.
