In a successful joint operation, the Kebbi State Government and NAPIT, alongside other security agencies, have rescued 19 children kidnapped in the Zuru area last month . Governor Dr. Nasir Idris praised NAPIT and the security agencies for their swift action, while also ordering an immediate investigation into the kidnapping and trafficking of the children to Cross River State.
The governor disclosed this while briefing journalist in a press conference at government house on Monday in Birnin Kebbi.
“The government will take care of the rescued children and provide them with free education,” Governor Idris assured. He also vowed to bring the perpetrators to justice, stating, “We must ensure that the culprits are arraigned before a competent court and face the full weight of the law.”
The governor urged parents and guardians to be vigilant in protecting their children and encouraged the public to report any suspicious activities to the relevant security agencies.
This rescue operation demonstrates the Kebbi State Government’s commitment to protecting its citizens, particularly children. The state has made significant strides in child protection, having domesticated the Nigeria Child Rights Act (CRA) in 2022.
