Kebbi State Government has urged Local Government Council Chairmen to prioritize good governance and service delivery. Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hajiya Aisha Muhammad Maikurata, issued the warning during a news briefing in Birnin Kebbi.
Mrs. Maikurata directed the Chairmen to remain in their localities, uplifting rural inhabitants’ living standards. “Now that elections are over, you must deliver dividends of democracy to the electorate,” she emphasized.
The Ministry oversees 21 Local Government Councils and four Emirate Councils. Hajiya Aisha Maikurata reminded traditional rulers to remain loyal and supportive to the government, warning against insubordination.
She praised Governor Nasir Idris for presenting modern jeeps to First Class Emirs, demonstrating respect for traditional institutions.
