Association urges SSCOE management to address viral hate speech by lecturer

The Fulani Community in Wamakko local government area of Sokoto state, has urged Management of Shehu Shagari College of Education (SSCOE) to address the issue of alleged hate speech voice massage by its lecturer, one Habu Soja.

Malam Muhammadu Julde, a senior member of the Miyatti Allah Kautalhore Association, Wamakko local government chapter made the call while addressing newsmen on Sunday in Sokoto.

According to Julde, the association received the voice massage by Soja containing high abusive words to all Fulani community across the globe.

“Our main reason for calling the newsmen on this issue is because of our quest as people that always encourage peace among the society.

“This voice massage has gone viral and received by many members of Fulani community. We cannot guaranty the attitude of other Fulani community members.

“But our main concern here is that some of us can take this advantage to create violence in the society,” he said.

He added that abusive words between individuals could easily be tackled but to the general population has a lot of impact and can be very dangerous.

“However, we have ensure closer enlightenment on our youth in order to dust their tension not to take the law into their hands and allow the SSCOE management to take proper action on the issue.

“As such we urge the management to ensure more measures are taken to avoid such occurrence and the perpetrator to apologise to the Fulani community for his action.

“We are not demanding anything from anybody or the authority but let the perpetrator of the act come out boldly and apologise to the whole Fulani community,” he added.

Responding to the allegation the Provost SSCOE, Dr Muhammad Hakimi said that the management were aware of the incident and they were trying address the issue.

According to Hakimi, the matter is an internal issue which would soon be addressed.
